Reema Rawat from UPES Receives Natco Pharma-sponsored Award

Hyderabad: The Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA) has announced that Reema Rawat from UPES has been awarded the prestigious Natco Pharma-sponsored Dr Yellapragada Subba Rao FABA Young Innovator Award. This honor recognizes her groundbreaking development of a portable cervical cancer screening device, a significant advancement in the accessibility and effectiveness of cancer diagnostics.

This device revolutionizes the early detection of cervical cancer, particularly targeting HPV-16, a key biomarker. Utilising an electrochemical biosensor, this innovation is specifically designed to be cost-effective, user-friendly, and highly accessible, making early detection feasible in underserved areas. This device has shown strong correlation with clinical data during trials, indicating its reliability and potential to significantly lower cervical cancer mortality rates by facilitating early and non-invasive testing.

The award was presented by Dr Jitendra Kumar, Managing Director of BIRAC, in the presence of Dr. Pavan Bhat from Natco Pharma and other notable figures, marking a significant moment of recognition for her innovative contributions.
